Meet the NHEG Teachers and Tutors
Closed, no longer taking new students. Due to teacher/tutor shortage and lack of funding.
Say hello to our NHEG Teachers and tutors, volunteer educators in the state of Ohio whose mission is to help students become more effective learners. NHEG offers training and support for its teachers/tutors. We have incredible teachers/tutors and are always looking for more. Our tutors make an incredible impact on students. We normally see a two-year educational advancement in students in 9-12 months for those that stick with our program. The most we have seen is a 4-year advancement in a little over a year for a student being tutored in Math and a 3-year advancement in Science.
All New Heights Educational Group teachers/tutors complete backgrounds checks along with signing confidentiality contracts and tutor agreements. Some of our classes cost money, while others are free of charge. Our teachers/tutors have many resources at their disposal, including a master document for every subject and grade level that contains helpful websites and resources to use in the classroom.

Sheila's Bio
Sheila lives in Southern California and has been a community college writing professor for over 10 years. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Chapman University and a BA in English from CSU Northridge. During her time as a graduate student, she tutored students in the university’s writing center and worked as an instructional aid for a parent participation preschool. Before her foray into education, she worked for 7 years as a managing editor for automotive magazines.
In addition to her volunteer work for NHEG as a tutor and proofreader, Sheila volunteers for 3 other organizations. She is part of a committee at her college working to support faculty rights at her campus, is the president of a small non-profit organization providing educational resources to a local elementary school and is a board member for a non-profit organization that advocates for victims of domestic violence.
Although she is a busy single mother trying to enjoy every moment with her active 10-year old boy, she finds time for her Anglophilia, her favorite pastimes of reading and writing and indulging in her love for Star Wars. And, whenever possible, Sheila and her son squeeze in travel to their favorite spots in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, camping with extended family, and trips to new places, having recently taken their first journey out of the country. They are currently working on a novel about their travels.
Chad's Bio
Chad has been an animator since 1992, working on projects from The Simpson’s to most recently, The Smurfs. Beginning his career as an old fashioned hand-drawing animator (flipping pages), he has been working in the feature animation world for about 24 years, having made the switch to digital/computer animation about 13 years ago. Some of the movies he has worked on are Tarzan, The Emperor’s New Groove, Stuart Little 2, Surf’s Up, The Polar Express and The Smurfs.
He has been very much a part of our journey in homeschooling our children and has enjoyed that process of teaching. In 2007, he began teaching at an online animation school for career-minded adults and has enjoyed that experience so much that he began to envision The Animation Course for school age students.
